Teach not only with mind, but also with heart
I still remember this quote above once being asked in one of my teaching interview test, and I was like blank out nothing was coming in my thought. Never before I think seriously about the career of being a teacher will be my whole life profession that I'll bring on in the future. Reason why is, I dreamed to be an accountant but family dumped me here. Even so I thanked God, this profession taught me a lot of things in this world I never know.
Just to share, my experience on my first teaching interview which is really give big impact in my life is when I attended Mara's interview. I never ever forget how broken I feel that time.. The interviewer said to me, "You do not have the quality to be a teacher. You are good at pointer, but see what you have. You seem not prepared enough" I was like, eyes wide open and heart broken. Only god knows how do I feel. I blamed myself for not being prepared for that interview because I have been told about that last minute, a day after. Huh! ;-)
Teaching is actually fun if you teach not only with mind but also with heart. Everyone in the world is a teacher in a sense. We all teach something to someone at one point in our lives. However, some of us succeed to be great teachers. I believe this happens when a teacher believes in the power of education. When you teach with the certitude that everyone can learn from you. When the student does not learn the way the teacher teaches, then the good teacher teaches the way the student learns.

With my bestie, Mashella . Listening to students singing Aiseteru song dedicated to me |
My first experience of teaching is when I undergo my teaching practicum at SMK Tebobon with my best friend. That experience exposed me to a real life of a teacher at school and class. I've learned that to be a teacher is not easy as what people said before. They only know that teacher has high salary and yes, of course a long day holiday at home. But, once you dumped into that profession you will faced different kinds of students with different attitude and behaviors. Some seeking for your attention, some are just coming in the class to fulfill their parent's hope, some to be naught and some to show their disrespectful to teacher. I have all these kind students. It's really challenging and need to put our highest patient and courage to the first of all.
To be a story, the embarrassing moment of my practicum was, when I cried in front of the students. XD You know class labeled with lowest level of intelligence usually has very naughty and disrespectful students. Most of them won't listen to you while you are teaching in front. But imagine when, all of the students do not pay attention during the class lesson and you feel like a tree talking with nobody. Just tears understand all, I feel failed and pity at the same time.
The best thing of being a teacher is The Light bulb moment! It's about seeing students learn, seeing them "get it." That moment is what makes it all worthwhile: the prep work, the hassles, and the planning. When what you planned the night before, makes a connection with a student, and they learn something they did not know before. They get it, and it's a beautiful sight! That is what teaching is about, and that is what real teachers teach for.

The relationships you develop as a teacher are absolutely amazing. You are meeting people at a critical point in their life, and having a chance to build into their lives. It's fantastic! You see your students every day, or every other day, and you get to know their minds, and their hearts. It is a great privilege, and such a wonderful thing about being a teacher. As teachers, we will be remembered by students for the rest of their lives. The respect and love we show in the classroom has an impact on a student's view of themselves, on their other relationships, and on their future. Hopefully ;-)
