Total loss car Insurance Claim

Good morning & have a nice day all.

It's been 2 months & 4 days since the car accident I had last time. Praise to the Lord for this test makes me even stronger than I am before. I have been through a lot in the past days. I learned something about this life, friendship, & family :)

Since I have never experienced in dealing with any car insurance before, well I was thinking it would be an interesting topic to talk about. Who knows this sharing might benefit others who really wanted to know the process on claiming a total loss car insurance.

So I only got to know my car insurance was Axa Affin when Perodua declared my car as total loss (repair cost of a damaged property exceeds the value of itpolicy). Big mistake is happened here, you gotta know what is your car Insurance at the first place. Have the policy & read. The car dealer I deal with, never mention about this though. Don't even know I will be charged RM400 as penalty for driving under P license.

An adjuster from Insurance will be appointed to inspect your car again. Once they said your car is total loss, contact the person in charge of your claim immediately. They will send you details & forms to be filled in either through email or address. To make it faster I've asked them to just send by email. The documents required are as following :-

1 Original Vehicle Registration Card duly signed (and chopped, if company's vehicle only)
2 JPJ Form K3 duly signed (and chopped, if company's vehicle only) in duplicate
3 Original Certificate of Insurance and Policy
4 All Keys
5 Redemption statement and undertaking letter from finance company, if any
6 JPJ TM-AB both duly signed & attached a copy of IC (both sides) - to be certified by relevant authority
7 Attached Discharge Voucher duly signed
8 JPJ-SAB01 form to be signed by Insured in the presence of relevant authority together with a copy of Identity Card
9 Undertaking Letter from Finance stating that the Original Release Letter / E-Hakmilik will be given to us upon receipt and
clearance of our cheque

I managed to settle all the documents within a day and sent them back to HQ Axa Affin in KL. However they took so long to approve my claim. (as what I've been told by friends) Really challenge my patience. I kept calling them asking how the progress, so lucky the person in charge of my claim was a very patient worker I guess. But there was one time she talked harden than before lol. This stage, you can't wait them to call you, you need to push them over & over again, otherwise ... your claim will be extended longer.

Finally on 27/05, my claim has been approved. However, it was out of my expectation. The total to be paid should be RM30,170.4. I thought they will cover up the sum that I have insured & expected to get some compensation in return. Unfortunately, I got to know they only cover RM29,600 after deducted the penalty I said before. Soon after, I have learned that if the car is written off as a total loss, the amount compensated by the insurance company will only be its market value, which is often much lower than the insured value. Well well well ...

But I won't stop there. I made an appeal to adjust the claim total they have approved. As far as I read from other  blogger experiences, I should get a full sum insured because the car is a new one, it's just 3 months used! Well, I believe that prayer is the most powerful tool in life. I remember this saying, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it & it will be yours:)

The time I'm writing this, I was waiting for my name to be cleared from the bank. Thanks god, the claim process is now in the final stage:)
